2007-09-07: The Narrows

As we walked along the trail, we followed the river. We also discovered wonderful cold springs. It was so hot that Tryna dipped her hat into the cold water to cool down.

2007-09-07: Riverside Trail

Access to all scenic areas in the park is by shuttle. We took the shuttle to the end and walked the Riverside Trail for a while. Beautiful cliffs are on both sides of us.

It is just amazing how the canyon can be so wide and flat and then narrow to some 20 feet in this area!

Every turn of the road brought an even more majestic cliff than the last. This cliff with a cave was very intriguing.

The Great White Throne at Angels Landing proudly stands 6744 feet high.

2007-09-07: Natural Bridge

The son of one of the first pioneers who lived in this area discovered this natural bridge. Can you imagine having this as your backyard!!

The Mormons were the first white men to settle in this area. The names they gave many of the rock formations continue to be used today.

We sat outside and watched "our cliffs" change color as the sun set behind us. How much more could we ask for?

2007-09-08: Our Rig

The temperature was staying in the triple digits and since I'm a wimp, we decided to head toward higher ground where it would be cooler. The car couldn't be towed through the tunnel, so I got to follow the coach and got this photo.

2007-09-08: The Tunnel

This tunnel through the mountain was built in 1930 for vehicles of that era. Because of our height and width, traffic was stopped and Al straddled the centerline going through (we paid $15 for this privilege). It was kind of fun watching it go through.
