2011-04-20: Basilica Cathedral

The Basilica Cathedral of Lima is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in the Plaza Mayor of downtown Lima. Construction began in 1535 and the building has undergone many reconstructions and transformations since. It still retains its colonial structure and façade. It is dedicated to St. John, Apostle and Evangelist.

The Plaza Mayor or Plaza de Armas of Lima, is the birthplace and core of the city. Located in the historic center of Lima, it is surrounded by the Government Palace, Cathedral of Lima, Archbishops Palace of Lima, the Municipal Palace and the Palace of the Union.

Founded in 1926, the Larco Museum showcases remarkable chronological galleries providing an excellent overview of 3000 years of development of Peruvian pre-Columbian history. There are also extensive gardens with some unique species of cactus as well as flowers

The objective the Culture Hall is to give visitors a comprehensive idea of the conglomerate of cultures that existed in pre-Columbian Peru. The exhibit goes from 7000 years B.C. until the Spanish conquest in the XVI century.

The Nazca Lines are a series of ancient geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert in southern Peru. Here in this park along the Pacific, they replicated the Nazca Lines in flowers.
