Russia - Mandrogy



2013-05-28: Sled Hill

Although everything in Mandrogy looks like it has been here for years, it was all built in 1996 for the benefit of tourists to look like a typical Russian village. Because it is flat, this "hill" was constructed for snow sledding.

2013-05-28: Matryoshka Dolls

Matryoshka Dolls, also known as Russian nesting dolls, refers to a set of wooden dolls of decreasing size placed one inside the other. The number of nested figures is traditionally at least five, but can be much more. Here on Mandrogy, we found a set with 30 dolls!

2013-05-28: Painting

The matryoshka dolls are hand painted using very fine brushes. Since Mandrogy is basically a manufactured tourist trap, we found artisans creating many different Russian souvenirs.
