Lake Shasta with all her houseboats is a gorgeous sight. It's nice to see the water level is up from years past but still not up as far as we remember from trips north years ago.

Knowing the outside temperature is in the 80's, it's always amazing to see snow on Mt. Shasta. Of course the altitude of this volcanic cone allows some snow to remain throughout the year. She is a beautiful mountain.

Continuing north past Mt. Shasta we come upon another of the volcanic cones in this chain which reaches to the Canadian border. Black Butte isn't really a mountain and is much lower than Shasta but we love it's almost perfect shape and couldn't help including it on this page of our site.
