2003-04-12: Along The River Road

There are many sanctioned runs during the Moab Jeep Safari Week. Our friends Ron Johnson and Birk Sorensen were the Trail Leader and Mid Gunner for the Dome Plateau Run on Saturday. Here, our caravan of vehicles is heading down the river road for the starting trail.

2003-04-12: Airdown

Before getting on the trails, it was airdown time. With some of the air removed from the tires, they tend to be able to climb over rocks and up ledges and rock staircases much easier. I was Birk's co-pilot (and sometimes driver) for the day.

2003-04-12: Again and Again Hill

Here is our jeep showing everyone how to tackle Again and Again Hill. This particular incline is appropriately named as it is common to have to try a tricky place again and again. Here you can only see part of the climb - there were about four sections with curves in between each one. It was a fun hill!

2003-04-12: Tryna Drives

After just being a passenger two years ago when we went jeeping for the first time, I decided I wanted to try it out behind the wheel. Birk was brave and became my co-pilot. With lots of help from him and lots of concentration I did it. My mentor told me I was a natural which made me fell really good.

Al was forever looking for Indian artifacts. He found a lot of churt and worked pieces and was even lucky enough to find an almost complete arrowhead.

2003-04-12: Squaw Arch

This incredible arch was along the trail. Isn't it amazing to think about the wonders one can find in the backcountry. I am in awe of this whole area.
