2003-04-14: Fording The Creek

Monday morning found us heading toward Rose Garden Hill. To reach this destination we headed into Onion Creek Canyon. Following the trail, we had to ford the creek some 22 times. Good thing it wasn't a rushing river!!

2003-04-14: Rose Garden Hill

Our destination is in the distance. This hill went nearly straight up with lots of rock stair steps. It was awesome to see it in the distance and even more incredible to ride up it. This is not a hill for the faint of heart!

2003-04-14: Birk Checks It Out

Going up this type of hill it's often necessary to get out of the jeep and check out the terrain. One must choose his path carefully or you can get into major trouble. The other aspect of this type of climbing is that it's so steep you often can't see the trail over the hood. There are surprises at every turn!!

2003-04-14: Fossil Site

Monday afternoon found us exploring a fossil site located below Dead Horse Point. Here is Al finding evidence of the ocean embedded in rock. Among our finds was a complete mussel shell.

2003-04-14: Look What I Found!

Head down, good eyes and lots of sharing were the word for the day. Our only problem was we just didn't have enough time here. Another place we have to return next time.

2003-04-14: Balancing Act

On the way out we came across this balancing rock. I just couldn't believe this huge formation could be sitting on that small base. One never knows what they'll find in red rock country. We're home now but can't wait to return again.
