2004-08-01: Sunday Concert

Today the Gadabout Banjos treated us to an afternoon concert. What great foot tapping music they provided.

2004-08-06: After The Rain

The Pacific Northwest is probably browner than we've ever seen it due to lack of rain. For the first time in all the years we've been coming here, we had a rainy day - they cheered but we didn't like it! After the downpour, the sun came out and we were treated to an after-rain sunset.

2004-08-06: Our View

We got a primo site this year with an incredible view of the lone pine. We're still under the pines so we stay shaded and cool but also have a view of the water.

2004-08-07: Anacortes Art Festival

As always, the Art Festival was great entertainment. We totally enjoyed looking at all the artists' work as well as sampling many ethnic foods. Here Al tries on an ear cuff - if I thought he'd wear it, I would have bought it for him.

2004-08-09: Another Beauty

I just can't resist a beautiful sunset and being in this site I catch them every night. Loving them as I do, it's difficult for me not to share them with you.

2004-08-10: Padilla Bay Nature Trail

We discovered a wonderful 4-1/2 mile trail along the dikes built in Padilla Bay. We had hoped to see some wildlife but only saw one seal (who we think was sick) and some little birds we didn't recognize. Next time perhaps we can go at high tide.

2004-08-11: Foggy Morning

We awoke to find ourselves fogged in. As the fog began to lift, we could see the lone pine rise from its tiny island with Hope Island in the background. This area is beautiful in any weather.

2004-08-12: Rainbow Bridge

Our friends, the Doolittles, arrived towing their motor boat. This gave us the opportunity to put the boat in at the campground and motor to the town of La Conner. This was the first time we got to go under Rainbow Bridge which is at the mouth of the Swinomish Channel. Many large boats tie up and then are able to enjoy the small town of La Conner. What a fun trip!

2004-08-14: A Fond Adieu

It is with regret that our three-week stay on the Puget Sound must come to an end. We'll still be on the coast for a while so we might experience more sunsets but none can quite compare with those that we have here. Indulge me my friends with all my sunset photos - I just can't resist.
