2008-06-02: Merman
|
Our city guide began our tour by showing us a "hidden treasure". Beneath the water of one of the canals are statues of a man (merman) and his 7 children. The story goes that the mermaid he married left him and the children. They are underwater searching for her. Evidently these statues are not always visible but we were lucky enough to get to see them.

Lining Nyhavn, a famous landmark from 1673, are colorful old wooden schooners as well as charming sailors' bars and restaurants. This is the area where sailors spent their time when in port. It also is where Hans Christian Anderson once lived.

2008-06-02: Parking Lot
|
Copenhagen is a very flat city so bicycles are very much in evidence. All the streets have a sidewalk, with a bicycle road next to the left of it and a street to the left of that. You have to be more careful of a bike hitting you than a car in this city!
