2008-06-10: Narrow Road

Sometimes our travels in the bus took us on wide motorways and other times on narrow roads like this one. Often one vehicle or the other had to back up to a "wide" spot to let the other pass. Al decided using this road with the motorhome when pulling the car wouldn't work since we can't back up when towing!

2008-06-10: Trollstigen Road

As you may or may not know, trolls live under bridges, behind waterfalls and in the forests. Today we drove down the Trollstigen Road which was opened in 1936 and has 11 hairpin curves from top to bottom. The road has a length restriction which the bus met by some 20 centimeters or so! And yes, that's an actual photo of the road!

2008-06-10: Aquavit

Amanda decided since we survived the 11 hairpins on the Trollstigen that we had earned a taste of the local drink, akvavit. Akvavit, also known as aquavit or akevitt, is a Scandinavian distilled beverage of typically about 40% alcohol by volume. Its name comes from aqua vitae, the Latin for "water of life". It was really strong and not to my liking.
