Driving Route 2 gives us the opportunity to not only visit some of the small communities along the way, but also to marvel at the beauty of nature. Flathead River was a great river to follow.

It was fun to watch the combines working the fields and to see the fruits of their labor being loaded into huge 18-wheelers...

...which would take it to the co-op. We ate lunch at a little café in this town and when we walked in everyone just looked at us. The town is so small everyone knows everyone and we were obviously outsiders in our shorts and crocs. We didn't care, the food was great!

We never know what we're going to encounter when we drive a Federal Highway like Route 2 which we've driven since we were in the UP of Michigan. Today it was this combine which was evidently moving from one wheat field to another. We were sure glad he was going the other way!
