This was the summer residence or hunting lodge from 1686 - 1975. King Stadtholder William III created the palace in the late 17th century. Queen Wilhelmina was the last member of the House to reside here.

The gardens were reconstructed based on 17th century drawings and in some ways resemble a miniature Versailles garden with some typical Dutch traits.

... and hyacinths all planted in groups of five. The groups of five represent the time in 17th century Dutch history called tulipomania when tulip bulbs were very expensive.

This beautiful tulip is called a Rembrandt. When we sat down to our first meal on board it was just a tight bud. It's been fun watching it blossom into this beauty.
