The Beguinage and Gardens were built in the 13th century and was once the home of the Beguine religious movement. It is currently a monastery for Benedictine sisters.

There are chocolate shops everywhere. We saw chocolate roosters like this one, chocolates that looked like walnut halves and even a porno chocolate shop!

This sculpture of Madonna by Michelangelo is housed in Our Lady's Church. It is from 1504-05 and made of carrara marble. Most of Michelangelo's work can be found in Italy. This piece was brought to Brugge by the Mouscron family.

The canals here in Brugge are not only numerous but also seem to crisscross everywhere. This town certainly does evoke visions of the small towns that the Old Masters painted.

The hub of all these cities seems to be the town square. We love all the old restored buildings which help to maintain the old-world feel of the area.
