2009-06-23: Milford, California
Because it was about 200 miles and because it was Milford (my hometown in Connecticut) we stopped here. There wasn't much to the campground but here was this one sheep and many goats that turned out to be our after dinner entertainment. How tolerant the sheep was when the goats jumped on his back!

2009-06-23: Twins
These twins were just one day old and were running around with the rest of the goats. It was amazing to see how well they were doing after just one day.

2009-06-23: Newborn
This cute little guy had just been born about 6 hours before. He was so funny because he was hopping around rather then running. From what we were told, they get moving around almost as soon as they are born and often are weaned within a couple of days.

2009-06-24: Juniper Reservoir RV Resort
We next headed to Lakeview, Oregon and Juniper RV Resort. This small campground is located one-mile inside the heart of KV Ranch, an 8,000 acre cattle and timber ranch. What a find this turned out to be! On the ranch there is a rock field created by lava from Mt Mazama 7.700 years ago when Crater Lake was formed.

2009-06-24: Juniper Reservoir
The Juniper Reservoir Dam was built in 1960. It is a 175 acre reservoir that is stocked with trout and catfish. Because this is private property, you can fish here without a license. This is also the site of old Indian camping areas. Here you can find arrowheads and Paiute Tears, rocks of non-shiny obsidian that are shaped like tears.

Right outside our dining room window is this bird box that is home to a swallow family. It is so much fun to watch the parents come in and out to feed their young.

2009-06-24: Pack Rat Nests
Driving along the trail we came upon an area where several pack rats had made their huge nests. They were tucked under trees but because of their size you couldn't miss them. They were scattered around since pack rats are rather territorial.

These puff balls, a kind of fungus, were very interesting. It looked like there was smoke coming out of them when they were broken.
