2009-07-01: Bend Farmers Market
|
The Bend farmers market is held twice a week at Drake Park in downtown. The Deschutes River meanders through the city and has parks and homes along it. This market was all produce and meat - it appears that goat meat is the popular item here!

Fly fishing is a very popular sport in this area. We came upon these two fishermen who evidently were being given lessons on the sport. While we were watching one of them got a fish which was pretty exciting.

2009-07-05: Lawnmower Races
|
Sunday found us in the community of La Pine enjoying their Frontier Days. One of the highlighted events today was the lawnmower races. They actually close down the streets and hold races! We were told that the lawnmowers aren't souped up but from the way some of them took off from the starting line we question that. How fun it was to see them popping wheelees to please the crowd that lined the streets.
