2010-08-13: Campsite
|
Our campsite in the woods is beautiful. The front window of our motorhome faces into the forest giving the illusion of camping right in the trees. Campfires and music have been the order of business each night.

We found this curious plant just in front of the coach. It is called Indian pipe and grows off decaying matter somewhat like a fungus.

2010-08-14: Jammer
|
We took a 9-hour scenic interpretive tour in one of these antique red buses that are a symbol of Glacier. They're called "jammers" because in the days when the buses had standard transmissions, the drivers could be heard "jamming" the gears as they drove up and down the rugged mountainous highway.

2010-08-14: Lake McDonald
|
Tranquil Lake McDonald is one of the most scenic lakes in the park as well as one of the longest and deepest. Immense glaciers carved out the 10-mile long, 472-foot deep lake. The Kootenai people called it "Sacred Dancing Lake" and performed ceremonies on the shore.

Today found us off on a dirt road in a different area of the park. On our way we passed serene Coal Creek. I find it funny that they call waterways creeks that I would call a river. I must research the difference between the two.
