We decided to drive to Old Town today and came upon a farmers market. It was fun wandering around and checking out the fresh produce.

2012-07-03: Friends
|
As we get closer to the Winnebago rally in Iowa we begin to join up with friends from our camping club. The Bechners and Sansones arrived in North Platte today so now we are 3 coaches. Dinner tonight was at Penny's Diner.

2012-07-04: Bailey Rail Yard
|
The Bailey Rail Yard is the largest in the world where some 10,000 cars are handled each day on 2,850 acres of land stretching out eight miles. It was interesting to watch the cars come over the elevated humps that allow individual rail cars to be sorted for their outbound destination. Cars are gently rolled down the humps and sorted into the bowl tracks connecting a train bound for a specific location.

The bottom anvil, which weighed some 100 pounds, was packed with gunpowder and then the smaller (35 pound) anvil was placed on top.

...with a LOUD bang, the top anvil shot some 25 feet into the air! We have now experienced anvil blowing!
