2014-07-10: Oxbow Bend

We went down to Oxbow Bend on our first night here because years ago that was where we saw a moose. We did see pelicans, Canada geese and some elk but no moose tonight. Who needs moose when we can marvel at the reflection of these incredibly beautiful mountains.

2014-07-10: Campfire

Because of the drought everywhere, we haven't been able to have campfires but here in the Tetons they were allowed. The sun doesn't set until after 9:00 so it gets dark really late!

2014-07-11: Buffalo Jam

I guess there is one large herd of buffalo here in the park and as we were beginning our tour today we got into a buffalo jam as part of the herd decided it had to cross to the other side of the highway. When this happens, you just wait for them to cross!

2014-07-11: Chapel of the Transfiguration

This rustic Episcopal chapel was built in the summer of 1925. It is built of lodgepole pine with pews of quaking aspen that was cut in the valley. Above the altar is a large window framing a view of the Teton Range.

2014-07-13: The Tetons

After almost a full day of rain yesterday, it was nice to see this spectacular mountain range under the sun and blue sky again today. Off we went to take the road to the top of Signal Mountain to see what we could see.

The indian paintbrush here on Signal Mountain was redder then we'd ever seen them before.

2014-07-13: Asteraceae

This is evidently a type of aster. I have never seen such delicate narrow petals as this flower had.
