Our First Trip - Nova Scotia Lighthouse Route

2001-09-08: Hubbards Beach

We have spent the last few days touring the southwest coast of Nova Scotia. We based ourselves at Hubbards Beach Campground which gave us a wonderful white sand beach in our backyard. From here we were able to day trip part of the Lighthouse Route (although there weren't as many lighthouses as we might have hoped for).

2001-09-08: Bush Island Wharf

We are enthralled with the docks in the small fishing villages of Nova Scotia. We have taken more little side trips off the printed tour route to see harbors such as this one.

2001-09-08: Swiss Air Memorial

As we were passing through Blandford we came upon the memorial for the Swiss Air disaster. It was very simple and tastefully done.

2001-09-09: Drift Nets

Al took a really close look at the drift net lying on the Indian Harbor Dock. Notice we've had a weather change - we're back in shorts again for a bit.

2001-09-09: Peggy's Cove

This part of Nova Scotia lies in an area of glacial activity. Where other beaches have been white sand, the area around Peggy's Cove is littered with rocks. It's beauty is much different than the rest of the coastline.

2001-09-09: Lighthouse

The lighthouse at Peggy's Cove is unique in that it houses a post office. It was difficult to leave this beautiful spot.
