2001-10-30: Graceland
A trip to this area wouldn't be complete without a visit to Elvis' home. Graceland is as he was - flamboyant. It's amazing that he was able to buy this mansion and the surrounding property at such a young age. One has to wonder what heights Elvis would have reached had he not gotten caught up in the fast lane.

2001-10-30: Meditation Garden
Elvis and his family are interred in the meditation garden he had designed while he was living in Graceland. He used the area as a place where one could find peace and think. It was an extremely emotional experience to walk close to the King himself. His fan clubs continue to send flowers and momentos which are placed here in the garden. One such club had the eternal flame erected.

2001-10-30: Peabody Ducks
Our next stop was the Peabody Hotel to see their famous ducks leave the fountain area in the lounge bar, walk the red carpet to the elevator and ride to their penthouse apartment for the night. They ride down the elevator at 11:00 each morning, spend the day in the fountain and then go back up at 5:00 each afternoon. It was a kick to watch but it happened so fast!!

Outside the Peabody one finds the Duck Walk of Fame honoring all the ducks who have had the privilege of living in the hotel since this tradition began in the early 1900's. It all began one evening when two local hunters, after having a few two many, decided to put their live hunting decoys in the fountain.
